I truly believe the most carefree time in my life was when I was in college. I had a ball. It was less about the studies and more about finding myself and expanding my life in areas I never knew was possible. I went to college in the seventies and the friends I met there, I still consider my greatest friends, even if we haven’t seen each other for years. We learned together and had spirited discussions for hours about politics, religion and everything in between.
We did study but we also played. I remember one night, after a full day of studying for a chemistry exam, my roommate said, “Let’s play volleyball.” I thought “Why not.” Earlier that week a volleyball had been placed in the middle of the quad for anyone to use. Well, we got out there to play and, little by little, more and more students showed up and started playing with us. We went well into the night and, because of that game, I met a wonderful guy.
