Second Act Living

A team at GMC thought up this lovely design which is ideal for the or business traveler.

It was submitted to the 2006 California Design Challenge contest held at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show. Ten teams competed for the challenge that had the theme “An L.A. Adventure” and GMC won for the design of the PAD.

GMC calls it an LAV or Living Activity Vehicle. The owner can just park where he wants and live and work out of it. It’s completely high-tech and packed with the latest in communication equipment.

Thank goodness it is only a computer design and not real. I don’t believe the world is ready for it yet. I do like the idea of it as a portable site for an Emergency Response Team

Everywhere you turn these days all you hear about is Tim Ferriss and his block-buster book The 4-Hour Workweek. A friend encouraged me to read after I tried to explain to her what my blog was all about. She said I sounded like the author. Well I read the book and no way am I like the author. He has the guts to do some things I can’t even imagine doing. At least, not yet.

In his book, Tim Ferriss uses a four step approach for re-inventing oneself.

Definition – In a nutshell, find what you want. Get rid of your baggage and fears ask yourself “What do I really Want?”

Eliminate – Focus on the 20% that’s important and get rid of the 80% that isn’t

Automate – Outsource your Life. Develop a muse or business that will generate income and run on auto-pilot.

Liberate find a way to work remotely or find a way to kill your job.

This is my three step approach for Second Act Living.

Simplify your life - In a nutshell, find what you want. Get rid of your baggage and fears ask yourself “What do I really Want?” Includes outsourcing and automating your life.

Mini-Retirements – practice taking small retirements and work towards achieving unrestricted mobility

Freedom – unrestricted mobility and second act living
Liberation, freedom or whatever you want to call the last step. The goal is to put a little living into your life.

I always found the subject of geography a little difficult to learn but that is never a problem when I travel. I like to find out about the places I will be visiting before I travel there so I can get the best experience. It makes for a more interesting trip.

However, if you are so confused about geography you find yourself in any of these scenarios, you may want to be kind to the rest of the world and stay home and watch the travel channel.
